Fishing & Wildlife in Big Canoe & North Georgia

Fishing - Lake Petit, the largest of our three lakes, is regularly stocked with trout and is a very popular fishing spot. Daily fishing permit is required (separate prices for adults and children) and can be purchased at the Fitness Center (706-268-3441). Big Canoe Security makes frequent checks for licenses so it is wise to obtain a permit for each person fishing. You may fish from the shore of Lake Petit or rent either a canoe, jonboat or pontoon boat. Pontoon rental prices are $50/half day and $80/full day.

Wildlife - Big Canoe has many habitats including evergreen and hardwood forests, meadows, lakes, and brushy areas. There are many trails that wind through these areas. This results in a good variety of birds that are relatively easy to view.  You can often spot wild turkey and deer.
